Our Mission

Sol Chariots Pedicab Cooperative provides affordable, eco-friendly pedal-powered transportation to the people, parcels, and produce of Providence.
 

We envision a future Providence that utilizes bike-powered alternatives to fossil fuel dependent systems and builds bike-friendly communities that value the environment, local businesses and community.

Sol Chariots is cultivating community and culture in Providence through two pathways:

1. Working with local businesses to offer versatile, entertaining pedal-powered taxis, tours, and event transportation.

2. Offering bike delivery services, that are efficient, affordable, and eco-friendly.

Why is Sol Chariots a Cooperative?

Sol Chariots is worker-owned and operated. We feel the best strategy for providing our services is through a democratic workplace that places people before profits.

What’s with the name?

Sol – Referring to the sun, as our cabs are sun yellow and bring sunshine and happiness to people’s lives. Also refers to the term “solidarity,” as we seek to work in solidarity with labor struggles around the world and also to build a solidarity economy here in Providence that puts people, cooperation, democracy, and justice at its core.
